Iran win seventh Baku 2017 gold medal
Iranian athletes won three more medals at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Najmeh Khedmati claimed a gold medal at the women's 50m rifle 3 positions on Monday.
Her Iranian compatriots Elaheh Ahmadi and Mahlagha Jambozorg ranked second and third in the event.
On Tuesday, Golnoush Sebghatollahi seized a gold medal at the Women's 10m Air Pistol at the Baku Shooting Centre.
Pouria Norouzian also claimed a gold medal in the 50m Rifle 3 Position with 454.6 points.
His fellow Hossein Bagheri finished in second place with 451.1 points and Hamed said Al Khatri from Oman won the bronze medal, scoring 440.3 points.
Narjes Andevari Emamgholinejad in the 10-metre air rifle, karate fighters Nasrin Dousti and Sajjad Ganjzadeh, and judoka Saeid Mollaei have previously won five gold medals for Iran.
Athletes from 54 Islamic countries around the world are representing their nations over 10 days of competition across 20 different sports which include 23 disciplines (Athletics and Para Athletics, Aquatics – Diving, Aquatics – Swimming, Aquatics – Water Polo, Basketball 3×3, Football, Gymnastics – Artistic, Gymnastics – Rhythmic, Wushu, Table Tennis, Handball, Judo and Blind Judo, Wrestling – Greco, Wrestling – Freestyle, Shooting, Tennis, Volleyball, Boxing, Zurkhaneh, Karate, Taekwondo and Weightlifting) in 16 world-class sporting venues in Baku.
The 4th Islamic Solidarity Games started on May 12 and will finish on May 22 in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan under the motto “Solidarity is our strength.”
